Below are a few recommendations for your Keys vacation, including Local Activities and Local Restaurants.

Recommended Local Activities

Below are just a few local activities we've experienced, and recommend. This list is, of course, not comprehensive; personalize your Keys vacation by exploring the hundreds of different activties and destinations the Keys have to offer.

John Pennekemp State Park
Mile Marker 102.5, Oceanside

The Pennekemp State Park offers a wide array of fun activities! Take their glass bottom boat to the reef and learn about the world's second largest coral reef. Rent a canoe and tour scenic waterways tucked between patches of mangrove trees. Relax on the beach. Scuba and snorkel. The park is only a few miles' trip to Key Largo.

Anne's Beach
Mile Marker 73, Oceanside

Despite being located 17 miles southwest of Sea Gulls, Anne's Beach is well worth the trip. This is a gorgeous beach with a boardwalk, pavilions, and restroom facilities.

Theater of the Sea
Mile Marker 84.5, Oceanside

Theater of the Sea is a beautiful marine animal park featuring live performances, up close and personal interaction with sea lions, dolphins, and stingrays. Their lagoons and lush tropical gardens house Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, California sea lions, sea turtles, tropical and game fish, sharks, stingrays, crocodiles, alligators, marine invertibrates, parrots, and birds of prey.

Florida Everglades National Park
The Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States, and the National Park alone covers 1.5 million acres. Birds and wildlife are abundant, including many rare and endangered species. A trip to the Everglades is an easy day trip from the Keys. We recommend an airboat tour, such as the tours offered by Coopertown Airboat Tours.

Sail Aboard the Tall Ship Liberty
Schooner Wharf, near Hilton Resort, Key West
If you plan on visiting Key West (an easy day trip from the condo), go for a sail aboard the schooner Liberty, or during winter months, the 125-foot schooner Liberty Clipper. You will depart Schooner Wharf for a cruise through Key West harbor and into open water. Passengers are encouraged to help with the rigging and even to take the wheel.

Holiday Isle Resort and Marina
Mile Marker 84, Oceanside

Holiday Isle is the world-famous Islamorada resort, featuring a white sand beach, restaurants, and nightlife. Be sure not to miss the world-famous, one-of-a-kind Tiki Bar, which features live entertainment. Holiday Isle also rents boats and wave runners, and accomodates many fishing charter boats.

Local Restaurants

It is said that Islamorada has the best restaurants in the Florida Keys. The Islamorada Chamber of Commerce provides an excellent list of local restaurants, available here. Here are a few of our favorites:

Marker 88
Mile Marker 88, Bayside

Casual fine dining restaurant on the bay. Largest wine selection in the Keys. Live music at the Tiki Bar on the water. Water front dining inside or out. Award winning food & wine.

Lorelei Restaurant & Cabana Bar
Mile Marker 82, Bayside

Lorelei features beautiful waterfront dining and sunset celebrations! The Lorelei was picked by Roy Attaway of Power and Motoryacht Magazine as one of the "Best and Brightest" spots in Florida. Enjoy excellent seafood and a picturesque cabana bar that extends out over the water.

Island Grill
Mile Marker 85, Oceanside

The Island Grill offers a beautiful, quaint setting with excellent Atlantic views, whether you choose to sit indoors or outdoors, either on the waterfront deck or beach. Come by car or boat--Island Grill's deck has great dockage. Also features live entertainment from one of the three bar areas.

Islamorada Fish Company
Mile Marker 81, Bayside

The sprawling Islamorada complex, connected to World Wide Sportsman and now part of Basspro, has 175 outdoor seats, right on the water. You can even feed the fish right from your table!

Snapper's Waterfront Restaurant
Key Largo, Mile Marker 94.5, Oceanside.
Enjoy quality dining with a distinct Florida Keys feel. Come for the jazz brunch on Sunday morning, dine by the waterfront for lunch or dinner, or enjoy a tropical cocktail at the waterfront tiki bar.

Outback Steakhouse
Mile Marker 80, Oceanside

True, you can eat at Outback anywhere. However, your hometown Outback probably doesn't include outdoor dining under a tiki hut and palm trees overlooking the Atlantic. The food is consistently good, and the view is beautiful.

Hog Heaven Sports Bar
Mile Marker 85, Oceanside

Hog Heaven is truly where the locals go. Hog Heaven is more of a bar than a restaurant, but it features reasonably-priced food and drinks, outdoor seating with a great view, and stays open daily until 3:30 a.m.
